2014-2015 Vincent R. McDonald SENIOR RECOGNITION AWARD

The Howard University Economics Department Alumni Association (HUEDAA) offers an annual monetary award to a deserving undergraduate senior majoring in economics. The purpose of the award is to recognize a senior who has excelled in rigorous economics course work, demonstrated leadership ability, participated in community service activities, and has proven to be an overall outstanding student matriculating at Howard University. This annual award is funded by Dr. Vincent R. McDonald, Professor Emeritus, Howard University Department of Economics and HUEDAA.

Award Amount: $300

Deadline: November 15, 2014

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Graduating senior
  • Economics major

Selection Criteria:

  • Grade Point Average– major
  • Accomplishments (academic, athletic, other)
  • Leadership experience
  • Community service
  • Membership in honor societies/professional organizations
  • Essay indicating why individual should receive the award

2014-2015 GRADUATE STUDENT TRAVEL STIPEND AWARD

HUEDAA awards an annual travel stipend to a deserving graduate economics student to attend the annual Allied Social Sciences Association meetings (which includes the American Economic Association, the National Economic Association and a host of economics and statistical associations). The purpose of the award is to expose graduate students to a major research forum with diverse research topics, allow them to meet and interact with economists and fellow economics students and provide an opportunity to meet potential employers. Applicants are evaluated on their academic accomplishments, leadership experience and professional and community service activities.

Award Amount: Award covers travel expenses to the 2015 American Economic Association/National Economic Association Meetings
in Boston, MA on January 3-5, 2015

Deadline: November 15, 2014

  • Enrolled in HU Department of Economics
