A specialist in African American literature, Dr. Jordan holds a Ph.D. in American Literature from Emory University. an Mi.. in African American Literature from Howard University, and a B.A. in English from Howard University. She has taught in the English and Afro-American Studies departments at Howard. Her various articles, lectures, reviews, and bibliographies have made important contributions in the area of African American literary criticism, with special emphasis on the novel, contemporary Black women writers, and the interrelationship of politics and literature.
