The College of Arts and Sciences has research faculty with sponsored research grants, fellowships, and awards from the National Science Foundation, the National Institute of Health, Department of Energy, Center for Advanced Study in the Visual Arts, the National Endowment of Humanities, and the Mellon Foundation.  Both undergraduate and graduate students, including postdoctoral researchers are often involved in the research related to the Social Sciences, Humanities, Natural Sciences, and the Fine Arts.  The faculty are involved in interdisciplinary research related to quantum systems and nanotechnology; and investigate problems using mathematics, computational physics, materials sciences, and the visual arts.

Research Centers

Research is conducted in various centers, institutes, and core facilities throughout the Howard University campus. Each one of these entities provide the needed space and support to ensure the best quality research.

Research Initiatives

The College of Arts and Sciences have research initiatives related to Quantum Education and Research that will focus on student development, support, research opportunities, including curriculum development and workforce advocacy; and Digital Democracy that investigate how technology and the digital age is used in an attempt to manipulate Black communities’ view on democracy in Washington, D.C.
