Congratulations 2020 Goldwater Scholar from the College of Arts & Sciences

2020 Goldwater Scholar
Assist us in congratulating Alexandria Adigun as a 2020 Goldwater Scholar. On March 27, 2020, President Frederick shared this great news with the Howard University community and had this to say:

Ms. Adigun has been awarded the Goldwater Scholarship for STEM.

Ms. Adigun is a junior biology major with a double minor in chemistry and psychology. In the future, she intends to become a medical doctor and acquire a doctorate in psychiatry and development biology. The Houston native plans to have a multifaceted career, teaching at the university level, conducting research in developmental biology and having a specialized psychiatric practice focusing on anxiety and schizophrenia.

A scholar-researcher, Ms. Adigun held a summer internship at the Institute of Molecular Pathology in Vienna, Austria for 9 weeks. She and 27 other students were selected out of over 3000 applicants across the world. She was the first African-American to intern with the program in its ten-year history.

Ms. Adigun is a part of the Karsh STEM Scholar Cohort 1 and a member of the Freshman Leadership Academy.

This announcement is another testament of Howard’s commitment to identify global prestigious opportunities and encourage independent inquiry and scholarship through experiential learning and leadership development."
