What Is the Flagship Network of Excellence?
"COAS provides me with the tools that I need to accomplish my goals. For example, COAS has various study abroad opportunities that help to make students well-rounded individuals. In my case, taking advantage of these study abroad opportunities will help me to stand out as a future medical student."
Every gift enhances a Howard Student!
The College of Arts & Sciences is the largest College at Howard University. Modeling and inspiring high standards on mobility is vital to the growth and development of our students. The Flagship Network of Excellence focuses on the retention and growth of our enrolled students irrespective of their research interests. The program nurtures a humanistic learning door into upper leadership. It offers a bold mentoring space tailored to our students while holistically building on a COAS community through informal conversations between students and upper-admin leaders.

What is the Flagship Network of Excellence?
The Flagship Network of Excellence focuses on the retention and growth of our enrolled students irrespective of their research interests. The program nurtures a humanistic learning door into upper leadership. It offers a bold mentoring space tailored to our students while holistically
building on a COAS community through informal conversations between students and upper-admin leaders. It creates access and opens spaces perceived as less accessible or reachable to positively impact students who can experience multiple (in)visible boundaries that confound their dreams and aspirations. There’s a wealth of lived-experiences/academic journeys that inform the mobility of upper-admin leaders who can enrich and inspire students – when sharing space and connecting with them.
Who do you support when you give to the Flagship Network of Excellence?
The Flagship Network of Excellence (FNE) is housed in the College of Arts and Sciences (COAS), more specifically, under the umbrella of the Office of the Dean. The FNE’s projects and initiatives are led by the Office of Academic Student Affairs. The Flagship Network of Excellence’s efforts center on experiential learning, career-readiness, study abroad, inter/national internships, tailored mentoring programs, innovative research, hands- on leadership and learning workshops, global research opportunities. The Flagship Network of Excellence comprises an Excellence in Pedagogy, Internationalization, and Career-readiness (EPIC) High-Level Summit as well as a Flagship Student Ambassador Program that promotes high standards on mobility for the growth and development of COAS students at Howard University. The Flagship Network of Excellence builds community holistically, creates access, and opens spaces perceived as less accessible or reachable. These opportunities are meant to positively impact students who experience multiple (in)visible boundaries that confound their dreams and aspirations. The FNE fosters a strong village of successful COAS alumni that we invite back to campus as mentors to our students and invited speakers at our leadership talk series and high-level leadership summit. Thank you for supporting our Flagship Network of Excellence!
Who are the stakeholders?
The Flagship Network of Excellence works closely with the COAS alumni, the private and public sectors, as well as local and international stakeholders. It is this exceptional community that joins our leadership conversations, shares with and mentors our student-leaders, and inspires them as they gain access to their journey and hurdles through mobility.
