Meet the ASA Team
Our Mission
The College of Arts and Sciences (COAS) provides its students with an undergraduate education grounded in the quest for intellectual freedom, social justice, artistic expression, and pursuit of knowledge. Through its student-focused academic support services, the Office of ASA strives to educate students to make meaningful contributions as citizens of a complex world.
True to the COAS’s nickname “The FLAGSHIP,” to achieve this mission, the Office of ASA is involved with methods of instruction, innovative research, extended training, and global public service designed to improve the human condition. The Office of ASA collaborates with the students, faculty, staff, and university leaders to model efficient and equitable policies and practices. The Office of ASA promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion and creates safe spaces for students and their ideas.
The COAS Office of ASA fulfills Howard University’s commitment to:
(1) enhance academic excellence in teaching, learning and student success,
(2) expand students’ thinking and promote diversity of thought, civil discourse, and empathy through high impact academic and extracurricular activities,
(3) increase research success for a changing world by facilitating students’ participation in experiential learning opportunities nationally and globally,
(4) develop strategic and impactful corporate and community engagement for students,
(5) empower students to become future impactful leaders and make them active participants in their educational experience, and
(6) foster community engagement and meaningful involvement with our COAS alumni/ae.

Interuniversity Transfers:Transfer credit
Your form must be fully completed before our Office of ASA can provide a Dean’s Office signature.

Nor does the Office of the Provost approve any individual requests for exceptions on a course-by-course basis. Please communicate with the instructor regarding any request for an exception, and/or with the Department Chair.
