Students at Career Fair

Internships are temporary work experiences whereby participants gain exposure to the work world by developing applicable skills. Interns are either financially compensated (by the organization) or earn college credit. Duties vary by organization but are clearly outlined prior to faculty approval if credit is being offered.

While most of our academic departments assist with internship placement, the Office of Career Services (OCS) serves as the University’s clearing house for identifying internship and employment opportunities. There, employers post vacant positions to Handshake, a dedicated placement tool. It is recommended that students complete their Handshake profile (BisonWeb) during the freshman year
